How to get paid by customers in Africa without a wire desk

Exporters, consultants, schools and hospitals all hit the same wall: the customer can pay locally in minutes, but getting the money to a US, UK or European account takes weeks. A payment request fixes it.

Getting money out of Africa has always been harder than getting it in. An outbound wire from Nairobi or Lagos means a branch visit, a form, a correspondent bank or two, an FX desk that sets its own rate, and a week of silence. Mobile money is instant but stops at a few thousand dollars per transfer.

The payment request

  1. Create it. Pick the country, enter the amount in their currency or yours, and add who is paying. Storspay generates local bank or mobile-money instructions with a unique reference. Share them by WhatsApp, SMS or email.
  2. They pay locally. From the bank or mobile-money account they already use — no Storspay account, no app. Above a channel cap the request carries several references; they pay each one.
  3. USD lands in your balance. Credited the same business day it is paid, at the mid-market rate, 2% all-in. Amounts above US$25,000 pass a short compliance review first.

Then what

Hold it in USD for free. Pay a US bank ($5 flat), a UK bank (£4) or a European bank (€4.50) — a supplier, a university bursar, your own operating account. Spend it on a Storspay Card. Send it free to another Storspay account. Or cash it out to local currency anywhere in the 26 corridors.

Who this is built for

Exporters and distributors invoicing buyers in Lagos, Nairobi or Abidjan. Consultants and agencies billing African clients. Hospitals, clinics and schools collecting fees from families. Tour operators and organisations funding delegations. Marketplaces whose buyers are in Africa. Investors repatriating returns. See the full picture, fees and FAQ →
